Nomadic X3 Helix Rated Power, Wire Size & Fuse Guide

This technical library note provides rated power and current draw information for Nomadic Cooling X3 Helix 12V, 24V, and 48V rooftop air conditioners. It also identifies the recommended main DC power-wire gauge and fuse size for a 15 ft one-way, or 30 ft round-trip, cable run.

Use this guide to review nominal battery voltage, ECO and High Cool power consumption at 100°F, hot-day design current, voltage-drop assumptions, and circuit-protection requirements for 105°C marine or SXL copper wire. Under the stated design conditions, the guide specifies 1/0 AWG with a 150 A fuse for 12V, 4 AWG with an 80 A fuse for 24V, and 8 AWG with a 40 A fuse for 48V systems.
